Supervising Doctoral Graduate Research Assistants
After being chosen from a highly competitive field of applicants, I train our doctoral graduate assistants to do library literature research and other duties so that they are of help to department faculty in their scholarly work. This artifact is just one example of the library work that students engage in.
Specialist Internship and Portfolio Defense
Advising Specialist cohort students involves not only teaching their introductory course, but following them through their two internship courses where we co-create with their site supervisors competency-based experiences that will allow them to log the minimum 320 hours required by the Board of School Administrators (BOSA) and to create and defend an electronic portfolio showcasing their accomplishments. This feat involves a lot of communication, coaching, and practice. This artifact is a sign up for mandatory practices and a final defense date with the student, a similarly licensed practitioner- panelist, and me.
Masters Student Individual Study - Cher Vang Fall, 2022
Due to issues with COVID-19, a student was not able to finish her final master's portfolio class and would have had to wait another year until that course was offered again. I agreed to take her on as an individual study student to work with her as she finished and presented her final project and her complete portfolio. She did marvelous work and was so happy to be able to finish her degree given the interruption in her education. With her permission, this artifact shows Cher's electronic portfolio and project.
